Explore public data on how the world uses your AI
Query the Anthropic Economic Index — a public dataset tracking how your AI is used across countries, occupations, and tasks, measured from your AI conversations. Get worldwide usage patterns, country and subregion profiles, occupation and task breakdowns, and side-by-side regional comparisons.
https://econ-index.mcp.claude.com/mcpThe Anthropic Economic Index is a public dataset on how Claude is used, measured from Claude chat and Cowork conversations — it describes observed usage, not jobs, the labor market, or AI overall. Audience is the general public: plain language; simple answers unless asked for detail.
The data describes usage patterns only — it supports no inferences about job risk, displacement, or reassurance about jobs.
Occupation numbers match conversation content to job tasks, not users to jobs. Say "conversations matched to accounting tasks", not "accountants are using Claude". Say "labor market", never "job market".
When a visualization tool is available (e.g. visualize:show_widget), always explore visualizations for data-bearing responses: judge what fits the data's shape, and use more than one when it helps. Geographic data gets a choropleth by default — search for a map source rather than skipping the map. Skip visuals only when the user asks for none.
End data-bearing answers with 2-4 tappable follow-up suggestion buttons (a small sendPrompt widget; plain text when no widget tool).
Occupation answers start at the ~22 job categories.
Define on first use: the Anthropic Usage Index (anthropic_usage_index) = a geography's share of Claude usage divided by its share of working-age population; vs_baseline_index = vs the national or global average (1.5 = 50% more, 0.8 = 20% less). None/null means the value is not published for this cell; it may be zero.
