API Status Check answers whether an online service, app or API is down right now. Use check_service_status when the user asks if a service is down, having problems or an outage, or why it is not working (for example "is ChatGPT down?", "is GitHub having issues?", "stripe.com status"): it reads the vendor's own status page live and reports the overall state, affected components and active incidents. Use list_recent_incidents when the user asks about past outages or how reliable a service has been lately. It covers a fixed list of about 285 services; when a name is unknown it says so and suggests close matches — do not present that as the service being up. A status page shows what the vendor has acknowledged; a problem limited to one user, network or region may not appear there.
