Calendera answers questions about public and school holidays across Europe — 38 countries and their regions, in the languages each country publishes them in.
Ask which days are public holidays in Bavaria next year, when the school holidays fall in Vaud, or where in Europe 3 October is a day off, and your AI answers from the dates the regions actually keep: school terms, days moved off a weekend and each region's own holidays included; town festivals that are nobody's day off left out. Where a country's regions keep different holidays — Germany, Switzerland, Spain, Italy and others — the answer says so and names the regions, rather than passing a national list off as anyone's year.
https://mcp.calendera.org/mcpPublic holidays, bank holidays and school holidays for 38 European countries and their regions, as calendera.org publishes them, with a planner for taking time off around them. For questions about when the holidays fall in a European country or region, when schools are on holiday there, or which vacation days to take for the longest break: long weekends, bridge days, leave around Easter or Christmas. The dates include the holidays a region keeps on its own, school terms and weekend holidays moved onto a working day, and leave out town festivals that are no region's holiday. They are republished from official sources and open data, not issued by any state; every answer carries the page it comes from (url) and its sources (source, credits).
Places are found by name in any language — "Bavaria", "Bayern", "Vaud", "Česko" — and have ids such as germany/bavaria.
Some countries keep different holidays region by region: Germany, Switzerland, Spain, Austria, Italy and others. An answer about one of them says divided: true and holds no single calendar: it lists the regions, the public holidays kept everywhere and those kept only in some regions, and no school holidays, which are set region by region. A region's whole year comes from asking for that region.
A public holiday is one day; a school holiday is a stretch with a start and an end. A holiday marked substitute is a weekend holiday moved onto a working day. The weekend field says in words what the country's law does with a holiday that falls on a weekend, and weekend_moves whether a replacement day with a date exists (true), the day is owed without a date (false), or no source could establish it (null).
