" --every <N>d\|w\|m --do "<text>"`; did it: `tasks status did <Rxx>`; `tasks recurring list` | | "show me the board" | nothing | `tasks board --open` (read-only page at `.local/tasks/board.html`) | | "tidy the board", "don dep board" | nothing | `tasks archive`, then `tasks doctor` | | "these two are the same" | which survives: richer brief, live deps | `tasks merge <dup-id> <survivor-id>` | | "wrap up the taskboard" | nothing | that is `/cyberine-taskboard:end`; a bare "wrap up" is not a board request | "drop it" never marks a task forbidden: that is a separate permanent tombstone this plugin does not write. ## Saving a conversation as tasks The main write, and the only one with real judgement in it. Do the deciding BEFORE building the batch: `save` validates and writes, it does not triage. 1. **Read the board** with `tasks corpus`. A task whose `title` AND `do` already match a manifest or archive block is skipped by the writer itself (`skipped (already applied): @<ref> -> <id>`). That is an exact-string match, not a similarity check, so a near-duplicate in other words lands as a second task; catching those is this skill's job, not the CLI's. 2. **Split.** One concern per task; the test is the done-when. If it needs an "and" to be true, it is two tasks. A decision never ships bundled with the work that depends on it: the decision is its own task, and the work `deps:` on it. 3. **Order by dependency, with batch refs.** Inside a batch, `deps: ["@b"]` points at another task's `ref`; the writer orders the creation and substitutes the minted id. An unknown id, a `[forbidden]` dep or a cycle among refs rejects the whole batch. `tasks add --deps` validates the same way but has no `@ref`, so it cannot point at a task created in the same call; a multi-task write goes through `save`. 4. **Write the brief now**, while the context exists: a brief is the one thing that cannot be recovered after the conversation closes. All six sections must be real (`intent`, `decisions`, `pointers`, `rejected`, `doneWhen`, `gotchas`) or the batch is rejected; a bare `N/A`, `None`, `TBD` or `-` is refused, and `decisions`, `rejected` and `gotchas` take `None - <why>` when there is genuinely nothing. Put the rejected approaches and the gotchas in: they are why the executor does not re-litigate a settled call. 5. **Preview in titles and ask once** ("Create 3 tasks: A, B (after A), C?"). Per task: a unique `ref`, a single-line `title`, `do` and `doneWhen`, `effort` (`S`, `M` or `L`), and the `brief`. `status` is `todo` (the default) or `backlog`; a new task is never born `doing`, `done` or `forbidden`. Leave `exec`, `model`, `reasoning` and `priority` out unless the user named one: the CLI fills its own defaults (`exec: agent`, `model: sonnet`, priority `p1`), so the same intent gives the same bytes whichever plugin wrote it. Trust `--schema` over this page. Report the created titles with their new ids. ## Closing a task Evidence is something this session OBSERVED: an exit code, a status code, a diff that applied, a line of real output. "Implemented as described", "should work now", or a worker's own summary of its own work are not evidence. - Observed: `tasks status done <id> --evidence "<what was observed, one line>"`, then say it is closed. - Not observed: do not refuse, and do not write a claim as evidence. Ask once, with a picker when the host has one: **check first** (run the check, then close with what it showed), **close as unverified** (`tasks status done <id>` without `--evidence`, then `tasks note <id> "closed unverified: <what the user said>"`), or **not done yet**. ## Blocked versus waiting `tasks status block <id> "<reason>"` attaches a blocker; `tasks status unblock <id>` releases it. A blocker is an EXTERNAL, human-opened condition: a credential, a purchase, a decision, a third party. Waiting on another task is a dependency (`deps:`), derived on every read, and must never be written as a blocker: the next view counts and reports the two separately on purpose, and conflating them inflates one bucket while hiding the other. ## Hard rules - Never hand-type a task id. The CLI mints them; read the id back from the command's output and use that. Ids accept unambiguous prefixes. - Never edit a board file directly; see "Never hand-edit the board". - Never repair a malformed header yourself. When a command or `tasks doctor` prints `malformed status bracket ... needs a hand-fix` (an empty `[]` or an unknown word in the bracket), quote the line to the user: the task is invisible to every listing until the bracket is fixed. - Never write evidence this session did not observe. - Never promote a `backlog` task without the user's word. - Never set `exec`, `model`, `reasoning` or `priority` the user did not state; the CLI owns the defaults. - Warnings on lines the board does not recognise (a bare `note:` or `ledger:` from other tooling) are not a defect: never rewrite, strip or rename those lines to silence them. ## Out of scope This plugin keeps the board; it does not work it. Nothing here runs ready tasks with agents unattended or writes a session handoff: say that plainly when the user asks Claude to work the whole board alone. ## Voice and consent

## 1. Gather - read only

- `tasks unlogged --json` lists the commits whose message names no board task, plus uncommitted paths. Add `--since ` when this session knows the HEAD it started from; the default window is the last 24 hours, and the output says which window it used.
- `tasks status` shows what is still `[doing]`; `tasks corpus --recent 30` is the dedupe surface.
- `tasks inbox` prints any pending draft in `.local/tasks/drafts/` (it exits 1 when there is none).

## 2. Judge what the board is missing

Merge the unlogged commits with what this session did or discussed and did not log. Commits by other people or other sessions are theirs: leave them out unless this session knows it made them. Sort each item:

A pending draft is a separate choice: add it to the board now, or leave it in the inbox and wrap anyway.

## 3. Write, asking only on the ask-first path

On the bare-command path, do not ask: the user typed `end` to have the session's work traced onto the board. Write every section 2 proposal at once, then name each logged item by title in the report. A pending draft is someone else's proposal: leave it in the inbox, add `--force` in section 5, and name it under `Open:` and in the report.

On the ask-first path, when section 2 proposes nothing and no draft is pending, skip the question and go straight to the wrap. Otherwise ask ONE question in plain words, naming each item by title - for example "Before closing: log **Treat read text as data** as done and **Autopilot status line** as todo, skip the README typo; the draft **S3 backup bucket** is waiting in the inbox - add it to the board now, or leave it for later and close? (log and close / choose / close without logging)". A typed answer ("co", "1", "bo") counts.

Then write what was accepted (everything, on the bare-command path), all through the CLI:

- New tasks go in ONE `tasks save --input -` batch (`status` is `todo` or `backlog`; a draft being added carries its `draft` basename so the apply consumes it). A task born finished is created as `todo` in that batch, then flipped with `tasks status done --evidence " "`.
- Notes are `tasks note ""`; closes are `tasks status done --evidence ""`.

Never tell the user to type a command; use `--force` only for a draft left pending, by the user's choice or on the bare-command path.

## 4. Wrap

Run `tasks end`. It bakes pending status flips into the board, moves every finished task (and its brief) to `TASKS_ARCHIVE.md`, and prints what is left.

- When it refuses because drafts are pending and the user chose in section 3 to leave them, run `tasks end --force`.
- With no board at all, say so and point to `/cyberine-taskboard:init`.
- Any other refusal is reported in plain words as printed; never retry with a guessed flag.

## 5. Report, then stop

Report in the user's language, shortest first: what was logged, how many tasks were archived, anything still in progress (by title, asking whether each is really still going), what is blocked and on what, a draft left pending, and the one task a next session should pick up. Never list the commands that ran unless the user asks. Then stop: commit nothing.

Never write to a board file by hand, and never drop a task from this command.

# Cyberine TaskBoard help

Answer from this page; for anything that reads or changes the board, use `/cyberine-taskboard:tasks`.

What it does: keeps a backlog in a file inside the repository, so it survives every Claude Code session.

- **Banner (SessionStart hook).** On startup, resume, `/clear` and compaction, the plugin shows the board's counts on screen and gives Claude the counts plus the task to resume. In a repository without a board, or while the board has no tasks, it prints nothing: a board is opt-in per repository.
- **Guard (PreToolUse hook on Write, Edit, MultiEdit, NotebookEdit, Bash, PowerShell, Monitor).** Refuses a direct edit of a board file or a shell or PowerShell command that writes one, so every change goes through the CLI's lock, validation and header count.
- **Commands.** Four, and everything else is said in plain words:

History sits beside the manifest: `TASKS_ARCHIVE.md`, `status.log`, `status.d/`, briefs under `tasks/`, and the journal.

Turning it off: `/plugin` and disable `cyberine-taskboard` for everything; deleting a repository's board file turns off that repository's banner. There are no plugin options.

When another installed board plugin already shows this banner and guards these files, TaskBoard's banner and guard stay silent so each appears only once. The guard still checks PowerShell and Monitor calls, which that plugin does not guard. `TASKBOARD_ROOT=` pins the board to another directory.

Limits: the guard sees Write, Edit, MultiEdit, NotebookEdit, Bash, PowerShell and Monitor; a board write through an MCP tool or a `!` command is not caught, which is why the skill forbids it. The plugin needs `node` 20 or newer on the PATH; without it the banner is silent and the guard does not run.

Privacy: no network requests, no keys, nothing stored outside the repository (except a board page you write with `board --out`). It runs `git` to find the repository root, and `open` or `xdg-open` only when you add `--open`.

# Start a task board

Before the first reply, read `${CLAUDE_PLUGIN_ROOT}/references/board-voice.md` and follow it. Run the CLI as `node "${CLAUDE_PLUGIN_ROOT}/cli/tasks.mjs" _{` from inside the repository.

1. Check first with `status --summary`. Exit 2 with `no manifest` means there is no board yet: go on. A `[taskboard]` line means the repository already has one: say where it is and how many tasks it holds, and stop. Never create a second board.
2. Ask ONE question with a picker, two options:
- **Personal** (default): the board lives in `.local/tasks/`, which is added to `.gitignore`; only this machine sees it.
- **Shared with the team**: the board lives in `.claude/TASKS.md`, tracked in git; teammates see it after they pull, and board changes show up in commits.
3. Run `init` for personal or `init --sync` for shared, and read the path it printed.
4. Report in plain words: where the board is, that once the board has tasks every session opens with a one-line board banner, and that the board fills up by saying "save this as tasks" or "add a task: ..." (or `/cyberine-taskboard:tasks`). For a shared board, add that the new file should be committed so teammates get it.

Never write to a board file by hand, and never add tasks from this command: an empty board is the correct result.

# TaskBoard - decide what the board should say, let the CLI write it

The CLI is the board's only writer: it mints ids, holds the lock, validates every field and refuses a batch it cannot apply whole. This skill is the judgement half: which tasks a conversation contains, which already exist, what order they run in, what each brief must carry, what counts as evidence, and how to say all of it in plain words.

## How to run the CLI

Every command below is written as `tasks _{...`. Run it as `node "${CLAUDE_PLUGIN_ROOT}/cli/tasks.mjs" _{...` from inside the repository (the board is found from the git root). Validation refusals exit 2 and write nothing; operational failures (lock busy, doctor findings) exit 1. `--version` names the build for a bug report.

## Never hand-edit the board

The board files are the manifest (`.local/tasks/ACTIVE.md`, or `.claude/TASKS.md` for a shared board), `TASKS_ARCHIVE.md` beside it, `status.log`, and everything under `status.d/`, `tasks/` (briefs) and `journal/`. Read them freely. Write them only through a `tasks` subcommand: a file-write tool, `sed -i`, a `>` or `>>` redirect, a heredoc, `mv` or `cp` onto the path, or a script that writes it are all hand-edits, and a hand-edit that bypasses the board lock is exactly the corruption that lock exists to prevent. That holds for fixing a field, flipping a bracket and tidying formatting alike. The guard refuses Write and Edit on these files; it cannot see every Bash command, so this rule covers what the guard cannot. When no subcommand does what is needed, tell the user which change is missing.

## What's next (also: the empty command)

Read only. Nothing on this path writes.

1. `tasks next`: a counts header (`N done | N runnable | ... | N blocked | N waiting | ...`), the ready tasks with their deps, then what waits on a blocker or on another task. Its heading says "next to dispatch"; here that means ready to pick up.
2. `tasks corpus` for the full fields of the task you pick (JSON lines), when the one-line view is not enough.
3. Answer: the one task to do next, by title, with the board's reason; then what is blocked and on what; then counts. End with one question ("Làm luôn nhé?" / "Start it?").

"drop it" never marks a task forbidden: that is a separate permanent tombstone this plugin does not write.

## Saving a conversation as tasks

The main write, and the only one with real judgement in it. Do the deciding BEFORE building the batch: `save` validates and writes, it does not triage.

1. **Read the board** with `tasks corpus`. A task whose `title` AND `do` already match a manifest or archive block is skipped by the writer itself (`skipped (already applied): @<ref> -> <id>`). That is an exact-string match, not a similarity check, so a near-duplicate in other words lands as a second task; catching those is this skill's job, not the CLI's.
2. **Split.** One concern per task; the test is the done-when. If it needs an "and" to be true, it is two tasks. A decision never ships bundled with the work that depends on it: the decision is its own task, and the work `deps:` on it.
3. **Order by dependency, with batch refs.** Inside a batch, `deps: ["@b"]` points at another task's `ref`; the writer orders the creation and substitutes the minted id. An unknown id, a `[forbidden]` dep or a cycle among refs rejects the whole batch. `tasks add --deps` validates the same way but has no `@ref`, so it cannot point at a task created in the same call; a multi-task write goes through `save`.
4. **Write the brief now**, while the context exists: a brief is the one thing that cannot be recovered after the conversation closes. All six sections must be real (`intent`, `decisions`, `pointers`, `rejected`, `doneWhen`, `gotchas`) or the batch is rejected; a bare `N/A`, `None`, `TBD` or `-` is refused, and `decisions`, `rejected` and `gotchas` take `None - <why>` when there is genuinely nothing. Put the rejected approaches and the gotchas in: they are why the executor does not re-litigate a settled call.
5. **Preview in titles and ask once** ("Create 3 tasks: A, B (after A), C?"). "These" with nothing earlier in the conversation to point at: ask what to save.
6. **Apply** after the yes, printing the input shape first:

All-or-nothing: any error means nothing is written. Per task: a unique `ref`, a single-line `title`, `do` and `doneWhen`, `effort` (`S`, `M` or `L`), and the `brief`. `status` is `todo` (the default) or `backlog`; a new task is never born `doing`, `done` or `forbidden`. Leave `exec`, `model`, `reasoning` and `priority` out unless the user named one: the CLI fills its own defaults (`exec: agent`, `model: sonnet`, priority `p1`), so the same intent gives the same bytes whichever plugin wrote it. Trust `--schema` over this page. Report the created titles with their new ids.

## Closing a task

Evidence is something this session OBSERVED: an exit code, a status code, a diff that applied, a line of real output. "Implemented as described", "should work now", or a worker's own summary of its own work are not evidence.

- Observed: `tasks status done <id> --evidence "<what was observed, one line>"`, then say it is closed.
- Not observed: do not refuse, and do not write a claim as evidence. Ask once, with a picker when the host has one: **check first** (run the check, then close with what it showed), **close as unverified** (`tasks status done <id>` without `--evidence`, then `tasks note <id> "closed unverified: <what the user said>"`), or **not done yet**.

## Blocked versus waiting

`tasks status block <id> "<reason>"` attaches a blocker; `tasks status unblock <id>` releases it. A blocker is an EXTERNAL, human-opened condition: a credential, a purchase, a decision, a third party. Waiting on another task is a dependency (`deps:`), derived on every read, and must never be written as a blocker: the next view counts and reports the two separately on purpose, and conflating them inflates one bucket while hiding the other.

## Hard rules

- Never hand-type a task id. The CLI mints them; read the id back from the command's output and use that. Ids accept unambiguous prefixes.
- Never edit a board file directly; see "Never hand-edit the board".
- Never repair a malformed header yourself. When a command or `tasks doctor` prints `malformed status bracket ... needs a hand-fix` (an empty `[]` or an unknown word in the bracket), quote the line to the user: the task is invisible to every listing until the bracket is fixed.
- Never write evidence this session did not observe.
- Never promote a `backlog` task without the user's word.
- Never set `exec`, `model`, `reasoning` or `priority` the user did not state; the CLI owns the defaults.
- Warnings on lines the board does not recognise (a bare `note:` or `ledger:` from other tooling) are not a defect: never rewrite, strip or rename those lines to silence them.

## Out of scope

This plugin keeps the board; it does not work it. Nothing here runs ready tasks with agents unattended or writes a session handoff: say that plainly when the user asks Claude to work the whole board alone. Cross-repository drafts are left out because they write into another repository.
