Epidemiakartta answers questions about the current infectious disease situation in Finland using official public data from the Finnish Institute for Health and Welfare (THL): the National Infectious Diseases Register, primary care visits for respiratory infections, hospital care (Hilmo), wastewater monitoring and influenza vaccination coverage, nationally and for all 23 wellbeing services counties.
Ask "What is circulating in Finland right now?", "Is influenza spreading in Pirkanmaa?" or "How many people have been hospitalised with RSV in recent weeks?". Every answer states the week it refers to, the epidemic level (ECDC/WHO MEM method), the change over four weeks, the comparison with a typical season and its sources (THL, CC BY 4.0).
https://api.epidemiakartta.fi/mcp/freeEpidemiakartta provides current infectious disease surveillance data for Finland from official public registers (THL's National Infectious Diseases Register, primary care visits, hospital care, wastewater monitoring and vaccination coverage), nationally and for the 23 wellbeing services counties.
Start with for "what is circulating now" questions, for a specific disease, and for hospital questions. With the paid API, get_access_to_care answers waiting-time questions, and search_indicators, get_indicator and compare_regions reach every other dataset the key allows (medicine purchases, Kela benefits, causes of death, population, unemployment, weather, drug offences and impaired driving). Each result repeats its structured data as JSON after "data:" in the text. Topics and regions accept plain names in Finnish or English. Data is weekly; the latest, still incomplete week is always excluded, and each answer states the period. Always cite the sources returned in each result (THL, CC BY 4.0). This is statistics, not medical advice: do not use it to diagnose or advise an individual.
This is the open version of Epidemiakartta for personal use, with fair-use limits. Organisations can integrate the full data (time series, additional datasets) through the paid API described at api.epidemiakartta.fi.
