findbyo answers a question no general search does well: "can I bring my own bottle, and what will it cost me?" Ask your AI whether a specific restaurant is BYO and it gets the real listing: the corkage fee (including explicit free corkage, and whether it is charged per bottle, per person or per glass), which drinks are allowed (wine, beer, spirits), the venue's notes, and part-time BYO schedules.
Some restaurants only allow BYO on certain weekdays, and findbyo answers "is it BYO today?" in the venue's own timezone. Or ask for BYO restaurants near a suburb, city, or point on the map.
https://api.findbyo.com/mcpFindbyo is the community map of BYO (bring-your-own wine/beer) restaurants across Australia and 14 international cities. Use to answer 'is <restaurant> BYO?' and for 'BYO restaurants near me / in <area>'. Coverage is not exhaustive: a venue missing from findbyo is NOT necessarily 'not BYO' — say the data doesn't cover it. Venues explicitly listed as not-BYO ARE known non-BYO. Always pass on the corkage fee and any part-time BYO schedule, and link the findbyo page. Contributions: adds a missing BYO restaurant and reports a wrong listing. Both go to findbyo's human review queue — nothing changes on the map until approved, so tell the user that. Only use them when the user asks to contribute and knows the venue's policy firsthand (they ate there, or the venue told them); show the user exactly what will be sent and get a yes first; never invent or guess contact details — ask the user for them.
