US import duty and HTS codes
Calculate what your imports actually cost before you commit. Enter an HTS code and country of origin and get the duty owed, including every trade action that stacks on top of the base rate: Section 301, Section 232, Section 338, safeguards, AD/CVD and the rest, plus government fees and the landed total.
Example path
https://mcp.gatewaylines.comGateway Lines answers US import duty and ocean freight questions from its own tariff engine. For "what will this cost to import", call . If you do not have an exact HTS code, pass the product description: the tool will return candidate codes instead of a price, because the classification decides the duty and the tariff schedule classifies by what an article IS rather than what it is made of. Show the candidates to the user, let them confirm, then call again with hts_code. Never present a duty figure for a code you guessed. Every figure returned is a planning estimate, not a customs ruling, and the disclaimer in each response should be passed on to the user. If a tool returns an error, and in particular if it reports that the guest lookup allowance is used up, that is the answer: report it to the user and stop. Do not compute duty yourself, do not estimate, and do not reuse or adapt figures from an earlier answer in the conversation to stand in for a lookup that did not run. US duty depends on product carve-outs and stacking rules that are not derivable outside this engine, so a number attributed to Gateway that Gateway did not produce is worse than no answer.
