Research historical local-government meetings and available public documents. Search meeting titles, summaries, topics and stored transcript text, inspect source passages, and build a brief with links to meeting records and original sources.

https://api.openpublica.com/mcpOpenPublica makes US local-government meetings searchable. It tracks city councils and boards (Sacramento, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Minneapolis, and more), transcribes each meeting, and generates a structured AI summary.
A good way to narrow down to the right meetings:
WHERE — resolve the government: ("Sacramento"), ("95814"), or (lat/lon). Each returns an account_id used to scope the other tools.
WHAT KIND — lists the valid category_tags and topics to filter by. category_tag is an opaque UUID — never guess it; get it here.
SEARCH — searches summaries and stored transcript text with one meeting-level ranking and native next/previous cursors. Use for meaning, or to browse.
TRIAGE — read the meeting summary preview and matching evidence.
DRILL IN — returns the full summary and topics.
QUOTE — search.transcript_preview is current text, not a verified timestamp. Missing previews do not imply no search match. Retrieve full source explicitly with (include_transcript=true) when timing or more context is needed.
