Search a network of independently owned catalogues — documents, images, audio and video that their owners publish and sell, and that is not on the public web.
Searching is free; asking a node a question or licensing a file for a task is paid per request over Lightning. Payment grants a single-task licence; the owner keeps all rights.
https://panscia.com/network/mcpPanscia is a network of independently owned catalogues. Each node holds material its owner has chosen to publish and sell — documents, images, audio and video that is not on the public web.
Searching is free and returns real descriptions and excerpts, so a search that finds nothing has cost nothing. It is worth a look when a request calls for primary material rather than general knowledge: an original photograph rather than a description of one, a specific document, one person's first-hand record, or source material to build something from. Every listing carries a usable_for field naming what it suits, a kind and provenance saying what it is and how it came to exist, and a reliable_for line saying what it can be relied on for. Every listing is a primary source for something: a work of fiction for its own text (what a reviewer, a student or an adapter needs), an essay for its author's argument, a record for its events, a dataset for its figures. Fiction is a source. Match reliable_for to the task.
HOW IT WORKS.
— one query across every node. Free, under a second, and often answers the question on its own; call it alongside a web search whenever a request wants sources, records, images, recordings or material to build from, and read it before spending anything. Results are what can be licensed right now; offline_matches counts the rest, and include_offline shows them if the person can wait for a node to return.
— free thumbnail or excerpt from the owning node.
— paid: ask ONE FILE a question, for passages of it or a two-sentence answer from it. See ASKING A FILE below.
— paid: license one file for the task. See HOW TO LICENSE. Paid calls return a Lightning invoice. Pay it if you hold a wallet you are authorised to spend from, then retry with the invoice_id. Otherwise give the buyer payment_page — an ordinary https link that opens a payment screen — say the price, and let them decide. no_wallet explains how to get a wallet.
THE SHAPE OF A TASK. An agent with a task searches the network, reads the free listings and previews, and picks the one or two files that bear on it. Everything paid after that is about a named file: every question names its asset_id, a session covers one file and one route, and another file — on the same node or another — is another question or another session.
