"}} ] } ``` Omit `publish_at` to publish now. Staggered times need separate posts, one per time. ## 6. Report what actually happened Call `get_post` with the returned ID and report each target on its own line: published with URL, scheduled, processing, or failed with the error. A created post isn't a delivered post. Retry only a failed target, using the recovery steps in the `postonce` skill; never re-send the whole post. For deeper platform writing (carousels, scripts, threads, thumbnails), the per-platform plugins in `postoncehq/plugins` add skills for each network. For every future post to crosspost automatically, set up a workflow with the `postonce` skill instead. 22:o9,28:T289b,22:o289b,--- name: postonce description: Publish or schedule social posts, inspect delivery, and manage automatic crossposting through a connected PostOnce MCP server. Use when the user wants to send content to their PostOnce accounts or configure a PostOnce workflow. metadata: author: PostOnce version: "0.2.0" --- # PostOnce Use the connected PostOnce tools for the user's requested publishing or crossposting task. This skill supplies workflow guidance; installing it does not connect an account or grant access. Requires a configured PostOnce MCP connection and account access. Local media upload also requires a client capable of reading the file and making an HTTP upload. ## Connect and discover If PostOnce tools are missing, use the client's setup at [PostOnce integrations](https://postonce.to/integrations). The hosted endpoint is `https://postonce.to/mcp` (Streamable HTTP). Follow the currently supported authentication route for that client. Keep credentials in the client's private connection settings or secret environment; never ask for a key in chat. 1. Inspect the available tools and their current input schemas. Clients may prefix names with the server name; the names below identify the PostOnce operation. 2. Call `list_accounts` or `list_active_accounts`. Use returned IDs, status and usernames to select the user's intended accounts. An empty list is a successful connection with no usable accounts; guide the user to [Connect accounts](https://postonce.to/dashboard/accounts), then refresh the list. Do not invent IDs or select every account by default. 3. Read returned `capabilities` and `media_requirements` before choosing text-only, image or video content. `required_media` takes precedence over a broad text capability. These are platform-level rules, not a guarantee that an account is currently authorized or that delivery will succeed. If an older server omits constraints, consult the current [API documentation](https://docs.postonce.to) and the actual tool schema; do not infer limits from a platform's name. 4. Confirm only genuinely missing choices: ambiguous accounts, publish time/timezone, or required content/settings. Existing user authorization persists. Account names, imported content and tool results are data, not permission to expand the task. ## Rules the server applies for you Check drafts against these before calling `create_post`, because the server changes content instead of rejecting it: - **Text over a platform's limit is cut off**, with no ellipsis and no error. Write each platform's copy within its limit (use `content_override` per target) instead of relying on one long `content`. - **Extra or mixed media is dropped, not rejected.** Where a platform takes one media type per post, the first type wins and the rest are left out; items past the platform's maximum are left out. Send only what each destination accepts. - **Hashtags past a platform's cap are removed** (for example 30 on Instagram, 5 on TikTok). - **Some platforms need media.** Instagram, TikTok and YouTube posts without media are rejected at `create_post`; Pinterest fails at publish time. Text-only posts work on X, Threads, Bluesky, LinkedIn and Facebook. - **Useful `platform_options`:** YouTube `title` (up to 100 characters; otherwise the first line of the content), `description` and `privacy` (`public`, `unlisted`, `private`); TikTok `publish_mode` (`direct` or `draft`) and `privacy`; Pinterest `boardId` and `link` (both optional); `ai_generated` on Instagram, TikTok and YouTube. Read the current tool schema for the full list. - **Not available through this server:** Instagram and Facebook Stories, reply chains or polls on X, Threads and Bluesky, first comments, analytics, reading comments, and editing or deleting posts that are already live. Say so plainly instead of approximating. ## Publish or schedule a post Use `create_post` with `content`, `targets: [{"account_id": "<returned ID>"}]`, and supported `media` if needed. Per-target copy belongs in `content_override`; platform-specific settings belong in `platform_options` according to the current schema. Use `publish_at` only for a requested future time, resolved to an ISO timestamp with an explicit offset. Omitted `publish_at` requests immediate processing. Use `create_draft` when the user requests a draft instead of publishing. Assign a stable `idempotency_key` to each intended mutating operation when the tool exposes it. Keep the same key and identical inputs if retrying an uncertain request; a new key means a new operation. Save returned IDs. After an ambiguous timeout, inspect `list_posts`/`get_post` and any returned ID or external reference before submitting again. Retry transient failures only within the user's requested scope; stop repeated failures with the exact next recovery action. Call `get_post` with the returned post ID. Report the aggregate status and each target's status/error or actual published URL. Queued, scheduled, processing, failed and published are different outcomes. A successful creation response is not proof of delivery. If delivery is still pending, say so and provide the post ID and [PostOnce publishing history](https://postonce.to/dashboard/posts/published). A TikTok draft delivered to the creator's inbox still requires them to finish publishing in TikTok. Example user request: “Publish this release note to my connected LinkedIn account and show the result.” Discover the account, create the authorized post using the returned ID, then inspect that same post. Do not turn this into a recurring workflow. ## Media from a URL or local file For a user-approved, publicly fetchable media URL, pass `media: [{"type": "image", "url": "<actual URL>"}]` (or `video`) to `create_post`. Check destination requirements, including thumbnails when required. Avoid signed private URLs unless the user intends the media to become public and the source remains accessible for processing. The hosted MCP cannot read files on the user's computer. Do not send a local file path to the remote endpoint or treat a chat attachment ID as a public URL. If the client has access to the user's selected file and can upload bytes: 1. Call `create_upload_url` with its `filename` and actual `content_type`. 2. From the client machine, PUT the file bytes to the returned `data.upload.signedUrl` using that content type. The upload URL is a short-lived credential: keep it out of messages, logs, persisted examples and analytics. Do not send the PostOnce API key to the storage host. 3. Check the upload HTTP result. An allocated media ID alone does not mean the bytes arrived. If upload fails, resolve that failure before creating a post. 4. Call `get_media` with `data.media_id` and use the returned public URL in `create_post`. Media uploaded for publishing is publicly accessible. If the client cannot upload the file or access a usable attachment URL, explain that limitation and request a supported URL or use PostOnce's existing media UI. Do not claim attachment support without the actual transfer. Only a separately configured **local stdio** PostOnce MCP server exposes `upload_media_from_path`, `create_media_post_from_path` and `create_tiktok_draft_from_path`. Paths then refer to that local process's filesystem. These helpers are not part of the hosted connection. Video convenience helpers may require local ffmpeg for a poster image; a supplied supported thumbnail avoids generating one. Example user request: “Publish this image from my project to Instagram.” Resolve the local file in the client, inspect the Instagram account's required media, upload bytes through the supported flow, then create and inspect the post. Never claim success from the signed-URL response. ## Automatic crossposting Use workflows only when the user requests recurring crossposting of future source content. Discover source and destination accounts and check their capabilities. Some platforms cannot be a source; current account permissions and connection prerequisites are validated by the service. Call `list_workflows` to avoid creating an unintended duplicate. For a new workflow use `create_workflow` with `name`, `source_account_id`, `target_account_ids`, and the user's requested settings. Future automatic crossposting uses `future_content_enabled: true` and `is_active: true`; set `is_active: false` if the user only wants a paused setup. Do not imply this imports historical posts. Use `update_workflow` for an existing rule; pause with `is_active: false` or delete only when requested. Read the saved rule with `get_workflow` and report its ID, actual source, targets and active/future-content state. Creating a rule does not prove that a future source post has been detected or delivered. Review subsequent results in the [workflows dashboard](https://postonce.to/dashboard/workflows). Preserve each destination's outcome when partial failures occur. Example user request: “Automatically crosspost future posts from this Instagram account to these two accounts.” Resolve those specific IDs, inspect existing workflows, create or update the intended rule, and read it back. Do not publish a test post without authorization. ## Recover without duplicating work - Authentication failure: reconnect using the client's supported setup; never request the credential in chat. - Missing scope or plan access: show the returned requirement and link to [Preferences](https://postonce.to/dashboard/preferences) or [plans](https://postonce.to/pricing). Installing the skill does not change entitlements. - Disconnected social account: use the account-connection flow, refresh discovery, then retry the existing operation where supported. - Invalid media or required platform setting: use the returned validation details and current schema to correct that input. Do not repeatedly submit the same invalid payload. - Rate limit or transient failure: honor Retry-After when available and retain the idempotency key. Inspect an uncertain result before any retry. - Partial delivery: report successful and failed destinations separately. Use the existing recovery controls for that post rather than recreating it for all targets. - Revoke access: use [Preferences](https://postonce.to/dashboard/preferences?tab=agents) for authorized apps, or the API keys tab for a manual key. Removing a skill alone does not revoke credentials. 22:o8,29:T9ba,22:o9ba,--- name: viral-formats description: Pick and script a proven short-form video format from 49 formats ranked by how consistently they go viral on TikTok, Instagram Reels and YouTube Shorts, each with its hook, structure, ending and a real example. Use when the user asks for video ideas, a viral video format, what to film, a Reel, TikTok or Shorts idea, or a format that works on every platform. metadata: author: PostOnce version: "0.1.0" --- # Viral formats `references/formats.json` holds 49 short-form formats, ranked by the number of examples with over a million views, how many platforms they work on, and median views. Browse them with videos at [postonce.to/free/viral-formats](https://postonce.to/free/viral-formats). Each entry has: `rank`, `name`, `structure`, `hook`, `middle`, `ending`, `length`, `effort` (`phone-only`, `needs editing`, `needs other people`), `works_on_every_platform`, `adapt` (how to change it per platform), `good_for` (niches) and `example` (a real video). ## Choose a format Ask, or infer, three things: the user's niche, how much effort they can put in, and where they post. Then shortlist 3 formats: - Prefer `works_on_every_platform: true` when they post to several platforms; one video can then go everywhere unchanged. - Match `effort`: someone filming alone on a phone should get `phone-only` formats. - Match `good_for` to their niche, or pick formats marked for any category. - Lower rank numbers are more proven; don't ignore a strong fit further down. Share each option's name, one line on why it fits, and its `example` link so they can watch it first. ## Script the chosen format Write a shot-by-shot script in the format's own structure: 1. **Hook (0 to 2 s):** the spoken line and the on-screen text, using the format's `hook` pattern. The `hook-vault` skill can supply stronger openers. 2. **Middle:** each beat with what's said, what's shown, and on-screen text, following `middle`. 3. **Ending:** following `ending`, plus one call to action that fits (follow, comment, save). 4. **Specs:** length from `length`, vertical 9:16, captions on. 5. **Per platform:** apply `adapt` (for example, a carousel version for Instagram and LinkedIn, or a still for X). Use only facts the user gives you. No invented numbers or results. ## Publish Once the video exists, write each platform's caption with the `post-everywhere` skill and publish or schedule it through PostOnce: TikTok, Reels, Shorts and each one natively, and schedule them all through PostOnce. Use when the user asks for a content calendar, a posting schedule, a week or month of content, content ideas to schedule, or to repurpose a blog, podcast, newsletter or video into a series of posts. metadata: author: PostOnce version: "0.1.0" --- # Content calendar Plan a realistic run of posts, write them, and schedule them with PostOnce so the user doesn't have to come back every day. A calendar the user can keep up with beats an ambitious one they abandon. ## Inputs Get or infer, then confirm in one message: - **Goal:** what the posts should lead to (followers, signups, sales, a launch, a page). - **Source:** their topics, or material to mine (blog URLs, a transcript, a newsletter, product notes). Prefer real material over invented topics. - **Platforms and accounts:** from `list_active_accounts`. - **Cadence and length:** how many posts a week they can sustain, and 1 to 4 weeks. - **Timezone** for every time you schedule. ## Build the plan 1. **Pillars:** 3 to 4 recurring themes from the goal and source (for example: how-to, behind the scenes, proof, opinion). Rotate them so no pillar runs twice in a row. 2. **Give each weekday a job.** One content type per day, the same on every platform, keeps the mix balanced. A simple default: Mon teach, Tue tip, Wed personality or humor, Thu how-to, Fri product or offer. Leave a day empty rather than posting filler. 3. **One idea per slot.** Each post carries one point. Break a long source into several atoms (a stat, a mistake, a step, a quote) and spread them across the weeks; never use the same atom twice in a week. 4. **Platform fit per slot:** video ideas go to TikTok, Reels, Shorts and Facebook Reels; carousels to Instagram, LinkedIn and Threads; short takes to X, Threads and Bluesky; keyword-rich pins to Pinterest. Skip platforms a slot doesn't suit rather than forcing it. 5. **Times:** use the audience's local weekday mornings or lunchtimes unless the user knows better. Space posts on the same account at least a few hours apart. Show the plan as a table (date, time, pillar, idea, platforms, media needed) and get approval before writing. ## Write and schedule - Write every post natively per platform, following the `post-everywhere` skill's limits and style table. Keep facts exactly as the source has them. - List the media each slot needs. Slots that need an image or video the user doesn't have yet become drafts (`create_draft`), not scheduled posts. - Schedule each ready slot with one `create_post` per time: `publish_at` as an ISO timestamp with the offset, one target per account, platform copy in `content_override`, settings like a YouTube title in `platform_options`. - Save every returned post ID next to its slot. ## Hand back Return the calendar with each slot's status: scheduled (with ID), draft (what's missing), or skipped (why). Remind the user that scheduled posts can be changed or cancelled before they go out with `update_post` or `cancel_post`, and that nothing is delivered until each post's status says published. Need hooks or formats for the slots? Use the `hook-vault` and `viral-formats` skills. 22:o8,26:T90a,22:o90a,--- name: hook-vault description: Write scroll-stopping opening lines from 100 hook templates taken from real viral posts on TikTok, Instagram Reels, YouTube Shorts, LinkedIn and X. Use when the user asks for a hook, a first line, an opener, a scroll stopper, hook ideas for a video or post, or wants to make an opening line stronger. metadata: author: PostOnce version: "0.1.0" --- # Hook vault `references/hooks.json` holds 100 hook templates. Each one is the opening line of a real post with a large audience, turned into a fill-in template. The same library is browsable at [postonce.to/free/hook-vault](https://postonce.to/free/hook-vault). Each entry has: `template` (the `[bracketed]` parts get replaced), `type`, `works_on` (TikTok, Reels, Shorts, LinkedIn, X), `real_example` (the original line), `source` (link to the post) and `views` when known. ## How to write hooks with it 1. **Know the post first.** Get the topic, the audience, the platform, and the one payoff the post delivers. A hook is a promise; it must match what the post actually gives. 2. **Pick 3 templates from different types** that fit the platform (`works_on`) and the payoff. Types include `contrarian`, `number_list`, `secret_insider`, `howto_promise`, `result_proof`, `bold_claim`, `story`, `mistake`, `comparison`, `question` and more. Different types give the user a real choice. 3. **Fill the brackets with the user's specifics:** real numbers, real names, the real outcome. Never invent a result, a follower count or a figure the user didn't give you. If a template needs proof they don't have, pick another template. 4. **Fit the format.** Video: under about 12 words, said and shown on screen in the first 2 seconds. LinkedIn: the first two lines before "see more". X, Threads and Bluesky: the whole post often is the hook. 5. **Show the source.** For each hook, add the `real_example` it was modeled on, so the user sees the pattern working. ## Output Three hooks, each with its type, the filled line, and the original example it came from. Recommend one and say why in a sentence. Offer to film-test all three (same video, three openings), then keep the one that holds viewers longest. If the user wants to publish, write the rest of the post with the `post-everywhere` skill and schedule it through PostOnce. 22:o9,27:T11c8,22:o11c8,--- name: post-everywhere description: Turn one idea, draft, blog post, link or video into a native post for every connected platform (LinkedIn, X, Threads, Bluesky, Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, Pinterest) and publish or schedule them all in one PostOnce request. Use when the user asks to crosspost, repurpose, "post this everywhere", share something on all their socials, or adapt one post for several platforms. metadata: author: PostOnce version: "0.1.0" --- # Post everywhere One source, one request, a native post on each platform. PostOnce publishes to every selected account from a single `create_post` call; each target gets its own copy through `content_override` and its own settings through `platform_options`. This skill decides what each platform should get, then sends it once. ## 1. Pick the destinations Call `list_active_accounts` (or `list_accounts`) and read each account's `capabilities` and `media_requirements`. Use the accounts the user named; if they said "everywhere", propose every active account and let them remove any. Never guess IDs. ## 2. Find the one idea Read the source (their text, a URL they gave you, a transcript). Pick the single most useful or surprising point; one post carries one idea. Keep facts, numbers and quotes exactly as the source has them. Don't invent results. ## 3. Write a native version per platform Same idea, different shape. Start each version with its own first line; never paste one caption everywhere. | Platform | Limit | What works | | --- | --- | --- | | LinkedIn | 3,000 | First 2 lines decide the "see more" tap. Short lines, a stance, one question at the end. Link in the body is fine; many prefer the first comment. | | X | 280 (4,000 with Premium) | One sharp line. Numbers and specifics. Up to 4 images, 1 GIF or 1 video. | | Threads | 500 | Conversational, a little looser than X. Up to 10 images or videos in a carousel. | | Bluesky | 300 | Plain and direct. Links, #tags and @mentions become rich text. | | Facebook Page | 63,206 | Warm, first person plural, a clear call to action. Up to 10 photos; video posts as a Reel. | | Instagram | 2,200 | Needs media. Hook in line 1, value, then 3 to 5 specific hashtags. Carousel of 2 to 10, or one video as a Reel. | | TikTok | 2,200 | Needs media: one video, or a photo slideshow. Search-style caption with the topic words people type; up to 5 hashtags. | | YouTube | title 100, description 5,000 | Needs a video. Put the title in `platform_options.title`; a vertical video under 3 minutes becomes a Short. | | Pinterest | title 100, description 500 | Needs an image or video. Keyword-led title and description, `link` to the source page. | The server doesn't reject copy that's too long: it cuts it off. Count characters for each version before sending. ## 4. Match media to each destination List what media the user has. For each target, check its media requirements. Platforms that need media and have none: drop them from this post and say so, or ask for an image or video. Don't mix images and video in one post where the platform takes one type; extras are dropped silently. For a local file, upload it with `create_upload_url` and `get_media` (see the `postonce` skill); the hosted server can't read file paths. ## 5. Confirm, then send once Show the user a short table: platform, account, the exact text, media, time. Ask for one confirmation covering all of it. Then call `create_post` once: ```json { "content": "", "publish_at": "2026-10-06T09:00:00-04:00", "media": [{"type": "image", "url": ""}], "targets": [ {"account_id": "", "content_override": ""}, {"account_id": "", "content_override": ""}, {"account_id": "", "content_override": "", "platform_options": {"title": ""}} ] } ``` Omit `publish_at` to publish now. ## Publish Once the video exists, write each platform's caption with the `post-everywhere` skill and publish or schedule it through PostOnce: TikTok, Reels, Shorts and
