Metronome and click tracks
Need a metronome for your next practice session? Just describe what you need and Subdivide builds it right in your conversation.
https://mcp.subdivide.app/mcpSubdivide is a metronome and click-track app for musicians.
metronome.create shows a single-tempo metronome; track.create shows a click track with sections and tempo changes. Both are interactive widgets: the user plays and edits them directly.
Each open Subdivide widget, and the Subdivide app opened from the sidebar, shares what it shows in your context, with a session id ("Subdivide session: ...").
To change something that is open and on screen (its context doesn't say it's off screen), use its session: metronome.update changes its metronome; track.show shows a click track in it (the sidebar app, or an open click track). These change the open app in place and show nothing new in the chat. Don't create a new widget to make a change.
An app's context says when it's off screen (closed, or the user is back in the chat, as on a phone). Then the user can't see it: show what they ask for with a new widget, and don't call metronome.update or track.show for it (they refuse a change the user wouldn't see). In a background tab it isn't off screen: change it, and the user sees it when they return.
Create a new widget (metronome.create or track.create) when nothing suitable is open and on screen, or when the user asks for a new one. If no Subdivide session id is in your context, create a new widget: never make up a session id.
When the user asks how to do something in the app, explain it rather than changing it for them, unless they ask you to make the change.
